This is a family good old health hack…

I knew this trick for ages, from my grandma. And I didn’t even think about it as a revolution in terms of wellness, until a fellow of mine complained about the struggle he faces when taking his children to the doctor.

So, dear parents or… even injection-phobic adults, here’s an easy trick that I’m sure you didn’t know of, for any time the doctor says there’s no way out, you just have to face the needle.

  • All you have to do is cough!

Force yourself a little and cough!

Doctors have tried out jokes, distractors of various kinds, music… but nothing completely worked.

Doctors from St Thomas’s Hospital, London, Norfolk and Norwich University, and Wycombe General Hospital published a study on the issue.

They explain that coughing is both a distractor and a trigger for sudden rise in blood pressure. Hypertension can cause reduced pain perception and that’s why, these doctors, who published they study in the British Journal of Plastic Surgery, consider it to be the most efficient trick to make injections bearable for those who fear them.

Also, if you use ice on the skin, right before getting a shot.. your senses will be numb and you won’t feel a thing.

My mother used to give us kids lemons whenever we were visiting the doctor’s office for shots. Because we were so disgusted by the sour taste we could barely cope with… that the shot felt almost nothing.
